LATEST NEWS: Friday Mile Plays at a Former Funeral Parlor and the New Crocodile

Hey Friday Mile followers, it’s been awhile. We hope you are shaking off the winter blues and readying yourselves for spring. The boys and girl in the Friday Mile camp have been busy with their own lives this winter. Some of us got new jobs, one of us had a baby boy (Leo, born Feb. 7, check our Facebook for a cute picture). All good things!

We’ve got some great things to tell you about. Let’s start with shows.

Fri. March 19
Portland // The Woods
We’ll be playing with those tireless gospel singers of indie rock, Drew Grow and the Pastors Wives. We dare you to not be infected by their performace. This is a 21+, and advance tix are available. The Woods is a sublime venue… it was once a funeral parlor and will make a fine setting for music that night.

Thurs. April 8
Seattle // The Crocodile
We open, and Grand Hallway headlines this show. They’ve been making waves all over Seattle, and are currently en route to SXSW to win over the hearts of the Rockademia. Recently they sold out two shows at Seattle’s Triple Door with a 50 piece orchestra. In other words, don’t miss these guys! But arrive early for us (smiley face emoticon). This is a 21+ show, and advance tix are available.

+ Our online store is now open for business. There are packages for every budget, from digital downloads at $5 to the “Super Deluxx” package, which hooks you up with 5 CDs, a poster, and shirt for only $40. That’s a deal so crazy, we may get locked up in the infirmary just for putting it on the Internet.

+ Last fall, Friday Mile spent a weary Sunday morning at a Spokane radio station, doing an interview and playing some live songs the morning after a show (and there’s video to prove it). You can listen to the full show here.

+ Good Luck Studio has been getting a few reviews in the blogosphere. Bonafide Darling praises our “pop sensibilities” while another blog said that Jace and Hannah’s harmonizing is the star of the record. URB Magazine was slightly more critical. Yet another blog was written in Dutch, so we only can guess what was said about us… Oh, and this Athens web radio station played “Distance = Danger” a couple weeks ago. Talk about surreal…

+ Be sure to friend us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter to hear the day-to-day happenings with the band. We can assure you that some cool shows will be going down this summer, and this is the best way to hear about them first. We are also busy working on new material, ideally stuff we would like to get out later this year.

Take care everyone. Be well.

“Sole Survivor In The Valley of Fire,” Live on Spokane Radio

Last fall, Friday Mile played a show in Spokane. The next morning, we went to KCDA for an interview and a short acoustic set. Check out the entire interview at their web site. But for now, enjoy the video from that morning:

Friday Mile Added to All-Ages Haiti Benefit at Seattle University

Seattle University is hosting a benefit for Haiti on March 5 on campus at Campion Ballroom. This is the first Seattle all-ages Friday Mile show in 2010. All proceeds of the show will benefit Friends of the Orphans. The doors open at 5:30 PM and the music will start at 6 PM. Cover is $10.

Come join us and help the relief efforts in Haiti!

Music Blog Knox Road Praises Good Luck Studio

Knox Road, a music blog out of NYC/DC, gave Good Luck Studio a lot of praise on their site.

“They incorporate some wonderfully poppy elements, none more so than the achingly gorgeous vocal harmonies – the lead singers, Jace Krause and Hannah Williams complement each other perfectly. They’re playful with ooohs and aaahs but keep the sound grounded enough so that we can listen seriously.”

You can read the full thing at their site.
